Scientific-technical Park – Klimentov Technopark (1^st stage)

The project of the construction of a scientific-technical park called the Klimentov Technopark is part of the realization of the transfer of brownfields – the former barracks in the Municipality of Velká Hleďsebe - into a new modern suburb with economic facilities based on innovative enterprising and the use of the latest technologies.

The subject of the project "Klimentov Technopark" is to build functional infrastructure, develop innovative enterprising linking research and development, transfer of technologies, education and supporting the establishing and growth of technologically advanced companies.

The project was commenced on 30th June 2009 and its completion is scheduled for 2012. At present the first stage of the construction to be realized on the area of 1.83ha is prepared. In the subsequent two stages, the total area of 4.32 ha will be built over.

The scientific-technical park will be oriented at research, development and innovative enterprising connected with new materials using anorganic colloid particles. There will be also a support for starting entrepreneurs in the form of advantageous rent of business premises and consultancy (business incubator) available. The equipment of the Klimentov Technopark and its services will create conditions for research, development and innovation of technological processes in the field of nanomaterials.

Within the 1^st project stage the following will be built

• Laboratory center (equipped with the latest technology and appliances)
• Center of shared services (offices and amenities for the staff and enterpreneurs)
• Business incubator (infrastructure for the incubation of starting enterpreneurs)

The Klimentov Technopark is designed for

• primarily for small and medium-sized companies with an innovation potential (local/regional enterpreneurs),
• subjects of research and development in the projects of applied research and development for a direct use in innovative prospectuses,
• physical entities/bearers of innovative prospectuses,
• • university students and research workers involved into activities of innovative companies.

The total costs of the 1^st project stage amount to CZK 400million and the company Klimentovská plc was awarded asubsidy from the Operational Program Enterprising and Innovation, program PROSPERITY at 300 million. The 2^st stage with a budget of approx. CZK 250 million will follow. In the third stage there will be space given to individual projects of local/regional enterpreneurs.

The whole concept of the Klimentov Technopark focuses on attractive and perspective products as well as new laboratory and technical backround and services which will attract qualified specialists, research teams and innovative companies to the region and herewith strengthen the innovation potential of the Karlovarsky region.

The Klimentov Technopark represents the first project of its kind in the Karlovarsky region. Therefore, it plays an exceptionally important role in the setting up of infrastructure for the support of innovative enterprising and its growth in this region. The realization of the project Klimentov Technopark will contribute to the increase of prestige of the whole region.
