SURE

SUstainable Regeneration of BrownfiElds

The SURE project picked up on the successful MISTER project and aimed to contribute to the promotion of polycentric residential structures and territorial co-operation thanks to the regeneration of brownfields in regions. It suggested a way how to bring deserted areas back to functionality, how to use their great potential from the economic and social point of view and how to promote them among international investors on an international level. Furthermore, it intended to prepare the grounds for larger investment through extensive feasibility studies compiled on a transnational level and to attract potential investors as a result of a common investment support. The SURE project was supposed to contribute to the promotion of balanced development and to bring the strategic, economic and social development of towns and their environs on a higher level. For this purpose, local self-governing bodies, regional development agencies, research centers and universities were successfully partnered up. Such a partnership structure seemed to be very balanced with necessary know-how to realize and accomplish goals of the SURE project.
