MISTER
Re-use of military and industrial premises
The MISTER project aims to design and test a new set of integrated activities, such as restructuralization and renewal of towns with the re-use of brownfields (i.e. deserted industrial and former military areas) as an alternative to extensive urban growth. The main project output was a feasibility study with the focus on the use of former military premises in the Municipality of Velká Hleďsebe and on the quatification of investments necessary to revitalize them. The municipality concentrated on the re-use of these military premises of the approximate area of 60 ha for the following functional complexes: living, civic amenities, education, culture and sport, health and balneology with a special focus on gerontology.
The MISTER project was officially awarded in the competition of the Ministry for Regional Development – The Village of the Year 2009, in which it was announced at the best project from EU structural funds in the Karlovarský Region.
