From REsearch to Enterprise / Od výzkumu k podnikání

In November 2008 the FREE project was launched with 7 participating partners from 5 regions and it will last for 32 months with the total budget of 1,832,310 €. It has been implemented within the Operational Program of Transnational Co-operation Central Europe and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund from 85%.

The project aims to develop specific tools and human skills and specialization to foster dissemination of innovations into a business sector via a transnational network customized to regional conditions.

This goal has been realized continuously by implementing new tools, actions and skills, by supporting the use of scientific results by the business sector (especially by SMEs) and by strengthening of relations and integration between research, innovation supporters and potential users in the transnational context.

Transnational database VaV (Research and Development)

The project will set up a transnational inventory for research institutions by collecting research data in the participating regions. The inventory contains not only basic information and contact details of research units but also a sophisticated database for the search of products, services and technologies related to the research, know-how and patents. This database will be available online and in a printed version.

Innovation systems and services guidebooks

Systems supporting innovation services and technology transfer will be identified in order to understand various mechanisms and contexts allowing the transformation of RTD knowledge/results into new products, services and/or innovative solutions. The most suitable solutions will be adapted by the partners. Special attention will be given to instruments suitable for SMEs.

Network of mediators of innovation and training

A transnational "Network of Mediators of Innovation" will be set up to foster a bi-directional process of knowledge integration. The mediators are specialists capable of active research commercialization. Based on the innovative systems guidebook and mediators´ multiple competences, training seminars will be held in the participating regions. The mediators will be active groups of experts appointed by regional knowledge centers.

Dissemination of project results

Innovation road shows will be organized in each region. University knowledge centers will visited in order to promote the project result, to popularize innovation, to attract attention to the work of TTOs and to disseminate the knowledge map elaborated in the project.

Regional Technology Transfer Days will allow for live access to the project results. Finally, the example of one event "Technology Transfer Day", held in Brussels, will present the situation of technology transfer in Central Europe and will suggest new proposals to Brussels stakeholders.
